Wearing a pager on Shabbat, outside an Eruv
Hi,
Doctors and emergency personnel may wear pagers on Shabbat outside of an eruv, to aid in saving lives. This is considered part of their clothing.
And a cell phone to respond to the pager messages? Would the asnwer depend on whether one is inside or outside the eruv? Should one obscure the pager from view? Michael
Michael- I think the phone and pager have the same license. As far as obscuring it from view, Rav Moshe did not seem concerned about that. He seems to take it as a given that those who see this person will realize he is wearing it for life-saving purposes.
Oh this is really a good news to everyone! Great Post!
