Hi,
The person who is called to the Torah for an aliyah must read, preferably from the Torah itself, along with the baal keriah. He should not read so loudly that he drowns out the baal keriah, though.
(Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim 141:2)
Have a great day,
Mordechai

Good morning,
ReplyDeleteMy fluency, at the time of the aliyah, is certainly not on par with the ba'al kriah. Is it better, to read from a printed Chumash (during the Aliyah) or more in line with the halacha to simply do the best one can from the Sefer Torah itself?
Thanks, Michael
Hi Michael,
ReplyDeleteGood question. From what I know of your fluency, I'd recommend reading from the Torah and parroting the baal keriah as best you can.
